We have a busy week coming up with 3 school visits but lots of fun!

First up was All Saints Catholic High school, Kirkby. We love visiting this Y10 cohort – they are always super attentive and keen to learn: today was no different.

We only had an hour – but managed to squeeze an awful lot of content. The pupils were brilliant! We started looking at covalent bonding and used the molymods to investigate the structure of alkanes, the general formula and reactions. Pupils particuarly liked setting Victoria on fire to illustrate combustion – everyone loves an explosion!!

Next up was alkenes – again, pupils looked at the molecular structure which led us onto stoichiometry and isomerism.

Finally, we looked at how we can idnetify an alkene with Bromine water – What a smell!!!

We are off to West Derby School today …. more to follow!
